About the project

Everyone can fold paper crane; it is small and takes only a few minute of their time…but we collected more than three thousand of them! Can you imagine how beautiful and powerful decoration will be on the Children’s hospital walls with 3000 paper cranes together? We are sure it will brighten up the hospital wall.

THANK YOU!!!

(Photo: Traver Tyne)

At last, our exhibition, "Fold with Love" was over.
We took down the panels from the hospital wall and packed away on Sunday 4th December.
Thank you very very veeeeery much for everyone who helped and supported our project during the process.

We want to re-design the origami panel hanging system and are looking for an exhibition space for them.
A restaurant in Neutral Bay may be the next venue.

The next origami workshop will be at The Art Shop Mona Vale during the summer holiday.

Sydney Morning Herald

Thursday 29 Sept 2011 page 13 on Sydney Morning Herald
There was an article on SMH about the partnership between Louis Vuitton and Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation. They took photo in front of the origami panels at "Fold with Love" exhibition.
That 5 panels were designed by me and I used 350 Louis Vuitton paper cranes.
The title is "LV-Origami symphony"

The exhibition, "Fold with Love" is a very unique origami exhibition at Sydney Children's Hospital. It is currently opened to public till 25 November and the works are for sale.

Mayu's photo works

Photographer, Mayu Kataoka took countless number of photos for this project.
I always amazed and delighted to see Mayu's fantastic photography skill.
We should make a book about this project with her beautiful photos one day.
Both framed photographs are for sale at the exhibition. $300 each.

Opening Thursday 22 Sept

"....Mayu and I started working on the project in January this year. Since then I carried origami paper in my bag everywhere and asked people to fold paper cranes in many occasions. We ran more than 20 workshops in many different places.

We have met countless wonderful origami lovers. It was always a pleasure to see the big smiles on people’s faces who made paper cranes for their first time.

We believe that everyone can fold a paper crane – it is small and takes only a few minutes of their time, but 3000 of them together on the wall become a beautiful and a very powerful decoration.

Mayu and I would like to thank our families, friends, people from Louis Vuitton, Sydney Children’s Hospital, the Hospital School, the Hospital Foudation, and everyone who contributed their time and folded paper cranes for the project.

Big and special thanks to Roxanne and Martha for their endless support. We couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you." - Midori Furze, the opening night speech.

Window Display in Manly

You can see our Origami display at Rouge Window in Manly.
The shop has just been emptied last week and we were asked to use the space to decorate with origami.
I used an old book, it said "Christmas 1940" and my father in law's name. I placed it inside the old birdcage. I folded some paper cranes out of some pages.

Big thanks to Angela and Meegan from Manly Centre Management to organise to let us use the space.

Big thanks to Anne and Shane!!

Their works will be framed and for sale at the exhibition. All the profit will be donated to the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation.

Anne Tenney is an Australian film and television actress, probably best known for her role as Molly Jones in the television drama A Country Practice and as Sal Kerrigan in The Castle.

Shane Withington is an Australian actor best known for his starring roles in the television series A Country Practice as Brendan Jones, the male nurse and Willing and Abel (as Abel Moore). Withington also had a recurring role as Colin on Home and Away. After his role in A Country Practice, he appeared in a spin-off series with co-star Grant Dodwell called Willing and Able.

Withington had a guest star appearance in Strange Bedfellows, alongside Paul Hogan and Michael Caton. In 2010, he has returned to the Australian small screen in the regular role of John Palmer again in the soap Home and Away. (Wikipedia)
